Message Once you know your car really well, but it is difficult to do without a small jolt still, and not much of a point to it. However, I do it in bumper to bumper traffic a lot, it does save your clutch.

Double-clutching is for race-built cars without synchros and anything with trannys that handle thousand of lb-ft. of torque. I haven't driven an earth mover in a while....

:it is only used in cars with straight-cut gears, our and all other (as far as i know) street cars have synchros, this negates the need for double-clutching. double-clutching is only advantageous at the outer limits of adhesion. for instance when going through a turn and you need to downshift, it is less jolting on the drivetrain when u match engine speeds. basically, imagine you are in 3rd, in order to "double clutch into second"
:-put clutch in, shift into neutral
:-disengage clutch (take foot off) rev engine
:-engage clutch shift into 3rd, rev engine and release clutch
:if you are good enough (and i don't recommend this) you can actually shift your car without actually using the clutch
:in other words, dumb movie line, you don't need to
:"the More you Know"
:(the dumber you realize F&F really is)
